Abstract In this investigation, Copper (Cu)/ Graphene Nanao Sheet (GNS) composites were prepared by using the powder metallurgy technique. The microstructure and the mechanical properties were studied and characterised by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, High resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). GNS has shown a significant uniformity in dispersion with Cu is achieved through this method. The excellent enhancement in compressive stress is obtained with 0.2% GNS. It is more than 10% compare to the pure Cu. SEM studies of Cu/GNS composite shows the homogeneous distribution of GNS on the composite with good bonding. The TEM studies confirm that the sizes of the GNS are between 3–5 nm. Raman spectra and FTIR confirms the removal of oxides from graphene oxide (GO). The fabrication Cu/GNS are highly promoted through our proposed method due to its excellent mechanical property and process simplicity.
