Abstract An efficient and simple method is described for the synthesis of trans-4,5-diaminocyclopent-2-enones via reaction of furfural and secondary amines, using ErCl3·6H2O immobilized on silica allowing an efficient catalyst reuse using n-butanol/n-hexane as the reaction media.
