Abstract The first stable compound containing both N 2 + BF 4 − and CON 3 functional groups – 8-azidocarbonyl-3-( tert -butyl)-4-oxo-4,6-dihydropyrazolo[5,1- c ][1,2,4]triazine-7-diazonium tetrafluoroborate was synthesized, and its stability and reactivity discussed. The Curtius rearrangement of 7-azido-3-( tert -butyl)-4-oxo-4,6-dihydropyrazolo[5,1- c ][1,2,4]triazine-8-carbonylazide was investigated, and the synthesis of a novel heterocyclic system –pyrazino[2′,3′:3,4]pyrazolo[5,1- c ][1,2,4]triazin-4(6 H )-one is described.
