Abstract To promote the construction of a digital mine and facilitate sharing of mining engineering information throughout its life cycle, a basic framework of the mine working information model is designed and constructed after fully considering the object and information constitution during all phases. The basic composition of the information model is defined, and the information model is elaborated on geometric and attributive aspects based on the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) standard. In this study, the mine working unit is considered as the instantiation object of the information model, combined with the characteristics of the mine working structure and the spatial structure expression. The relationship between the entire system and the components of the mine working unit are established. By expanding on the classic building information modeling (BIM), a mine working information model based on the IFC standards is constructed, which provides a reference for the extension of BIM technology in the field of mining engineering.
