Highlights • UPS is facile method to synthesize 2–3 nm core–shell NP well-dispersed on support.• Fe@Pt/C core–shell NPs are synthesized well with high yield at 140–155 ℃.• The formation reaction of Pt shell on Fe NPs is thermally activated.• Fast temperature change to reach final temperature leads to produce uniform sized NP.• Our approach can be useful in exploring mass production of outstanding electrocatalyst.
