Abstract We present a water–cooled thermoelectric cold trap suitable for high-vacuum systems. The usage of Peltier coolers inside a vacuum chamber enables to avoid several technical problems associated with standard cold traps. The new device was tested and compared with a standard LN2 appliance. Presented thermoelectric cold trap can be used with various experiments using metal atomic beams.
