Abstract To ensure better utilization of silicon anode materials, a simple synthesis method to prepare a novel propeller-like structure was adopted. Silicon@tungsten trioxide materials with special morphologies can improve electrochemical performance to a certain extent. Owing to the novel and stable nanocrystallite structure, electrochemical kinetics can be enhanced and the ionic/electronic transport paths can be shortened. We used glucose as the carbon source to form the shell of spherical nanoparticles to further improve the stabilization of the material. Such a nanocomposite material showed better cyclic capacity of 610 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 after 100 cycles.
