Highlights • Infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis (IBK) is a widespread, contagious ocular disease that affects especially dairy breeds.• The mucoadhesive nanoparticle promoted a greater ability of adherence of cloxacillin benzathine to the ocular surface.• The mucoadhesive nanoparticle-based formulation promoted clinical cure with a low number of doses of antibiotics.
