Abstract The ray-based generalized Radon transform (GRT) inversion/migration strategy is studied in this paper for acoustic transversely isotropic media with a vertical symmetry axis (VTI media) represented by the P-wave normal moveout velocity, Thomsen parameter δ , anelliptic parameter η , and density. The multi-parameter GRT inversion solutions for multi-shot/multi-offset acquisition geometries are derived from the single-scattering approximation of the wavefields and an elliptically anisotropic background. Results from classical two-dimensional numerical tests show the true amplitude properties of the GRT backprojection operators.
