The Society of Gynecologic Oncology hosted the 48th Annual Meeting on Women's Cancer at the Gaylord Hotel, National Harbor, Maryland from March 12 to 15, 2017. The theme of the meeting and presidential address was wellness and burnout (theme 1). Discussion, research, and prevention of burnout was a major initiative during Dr. Jeffrey Fowler's presidential year. Early morning yoga sessions, arts, and a fun run were offered in addition to a very busy meeting with abundant science and education. Several additional prevailing scientific themes arose: (1) wellness and burnout, (2) PARP inhibitors, (3) sentinel lymph node mapping and the associated questions, (4) targeted therapies and translational science, (5) prevention and screening and (6) cost and quality. The science presented will be discussed below organized by theme. While the entire meeting cannot be adequately covered in this brief review, we hope to provide the reader with a snapshot of the meeting.
