Peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) is a pregnancy associated cardiomyopathy presenting with heart failure. Although the majority of women recover, continued deterioration of cardiac function occurs leading to mortality. Early unloading of the LV may prevent death and allow better recovery.
