We developed a room temperature ligand-assisted colloidal method to synthesize single-crystalline CsPbBr3 nanowires (NWs) directly from precursor powders. The length of the NWs can be tuned from tens of nanometers to tens of microns and the width is highly uniform and can be controlled from ∼2.5 nm to ∼32 nm by adjusting the reaction time. Due to the strong quantum confinement effects, the optical properties can be tuned from purple to green with different NW widths. The composition and optical properties can also be tuned across the entire visible range through an anion-exchange process with good nanowire morphology preservation. Our study provides a facile, reliable method for the controlled synthesis of 1D perovskite NWs, which could offer a new platform for fundamental studies and optoelectronic applications.
