A quantum dot light-emitting-diode (QD-LED) with luminescence efficiency enhanced by micron-sized TiO2 photonic crystals with inverse opal structure (μ-iPCs) has been developed for lighting and displays. By introducing μ-iPCs in QD-LEDs, the QD luminescence intensity and the external-quantum-efficiency (EQE) can be enhanced by ∼250% and ∼640%, respectively.
