The effect of conditions on the regularities of the two-stage one-pot synthesis of N-(dibutylaminomethyl)methacrylamide (DBAMMA) via the Mannich reaction of methacrylamide, formaldehyde and dibutylamine in a heterophase aqueous system has been studied. The conditions of the synthesis of DBAMMA with a 96% yield at 35 °C have been determined. This variant of the synthesis of hydrophobic amino-containing methacrylamide has good practical prospects because of the high yield of the target product achieved under mild conditions in aqueous medium with an equimolar ratio of the initial reagents, the absence of by-products and easy separation of the target monomer from the reaction mixture.
