To achieve a high-voltage gain, a step-up converter is developed by integrating coupled-inductor (CL) and switched capacitor. Low-voltage-rated transistors are used to improve the efficiency as the voltage stress on the main switch of the proposed converter is reduced. Circuit configuration, operation principle, ideal voltage transfer ratio and switches' stresses are analysed in detail. The converter's structure can be easily extended for ultra-high-voltage gain by increasing the number of windings of the CL. The feasibility of the proposed converter is experimentally demonstrated by a 140 W prototype converter.
