Abstract A 13-week-old spayed female rabbit was presented for evaluation of abdominal distension one week after elective spay. Radiographs suggested colonic obstruction and exploratory laparotomy confirmed obstruction of the distal colon by circumferential adhesions. The adhesions were broken down by blunt dissection and the rabbit recovered uneventfully. No complications developed in a 14-month follow up period. This case suggests that prognosis for colonic obstruction due to post-surgical adhesions can be good with prompt identification and surgical intervention.
