Abstract Irreversible, end-stage biventricular heart failure is associated with mortality rates of up to 100%. Despite the increasing application of ventricular assist devices (VADs), many centers lack experience with total artificial heart (TAH) implantation techniques. We present a surgical technique consisting of the implantation of two HeartMate 3 VADs in the setting of a TAH as a bridge to transplantation strategy.
