Significance The structure of NuA4, one of two major histone acetyltransferases of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, is reported at 3.8 Å resolution. Six polypeptide chains of the complex, comprising about half the total mass, could be traced. This region is conserved from yeast to humans. Part of the complex performs a negative role, diminishing the affinity of the acetyltransferase for the nucleosome.
