The preparation of certification exams is essential for US residents. This is organised for neurosurgeons through the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) primary examination. Even if it is devoted to US practicionners, Belgian residents can surely take advantage of such revision books to prepare their continuous evaluation. This small book, written in a comprehensive manner, is the updated second edition of a popular neurosurgical board review. The text includes an impressive number of questions with concise and well-delineated explanations. The question/answer format enables the neurosurgical residents to efficiently practise, review, and improve upon their comprehension. Starting with fundamental disciplines that are relevant to the practice of neurosurgery, the second edition encompasses the most recent advances in the field of endovascular approaches, minimally invasive spinal surgery techniques, and genetics. The diverse and challenging questions encourage the acquisition of factual knowledge and application of logic. This is an ABNS study book that closely mimics the written board examination format. Multiple choice Q&A format and questions organised randomly simulates the examination. This is a nice book that can help neurosurgical residents to revise their theoretical knowledge. Certified neurosurgeons will also find a good self-assessment tool to test their knowledge and decide to revise some aspects.
