ABSTRACT In the present work, solid solutions between multiferroic BiFeO3 and antiferroelectric NaNbO3 [i.e., (Bi1-xNax)(Fe1-xNbx)O3] for x = 0.20, 0.25, 0.32, 0.38 and 0.40 were prepared using solid state ceramic… Click to show full abstract

ABSTRACT In the present work, solid solutions between multiferroic BiFeO3 and antiferroelectric NaNbO3 [i.e., (Bi1-xNax)(Fe1-xNbx)O3] for x = 0.20, 0.25, 0.32, 0.38 and 0.40 were prepared using solid state ceramic method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirms about the phase formation and a structural transformation of solid solution from the rhombohedral to the cubic phase observed with increase in concentration of NaNbO3. This was also confirms by room temperature Raman analysis. The microstructures were observed using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) which shows formation of dense ceramic with a non-uniform spherical grain size. Compositional studies were performed using Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX).
