Abstract The electrocaloric properties of PLZT(7/65/35) and PLZT(9.1/65/35) ceramics were investigated by indirect estimation and direct measurement of temperature–electric field (T–E) hysteresis loops. Measured T–E loops had shapes similar to those of the strain–electric field (s–E) loops. The measured temperature changes (ΔTs) at around 25 °C of the PLZT(7/65/35) and PLZT(9.1/65/35) ceramics with a change in the electric field from 30 kV/cm to 0 were 0.21 K and 0.37 K, respectively. PLZT(9.1/65/35) ceramics exhibited the largest electromechanical and electrocaloric properties at around 25 °C, and these properties then decreased monotonously with increasing temperature.
