ABSTRACT In this paper, a non-isolated multi-input DC-DC converter (MIC) topology is presented to integrate renewable energy sources (RES) with the load. The proposed MIC consists of two identical high gain DC-DC converters which are supplied from two sources. In each high gain converter, the required voltage gain to meet the standard DC bus voltage in a DC microgrid is obtained by cascading the output of a classical boost converter with two voltage multiplier cells. Further, ORing diodes are employed in the identical converters to facilitate current sharing between them. Moreover, when one of the RES is available, either of the identical converters provide the required load demand. The proposed concept is validated by conducting experimental results using a laboratory prototype. The operational modes, characteristic waveforms, design details, simulation and experimental results of the 36 V/380 V, 200 W DC-DC converter are also presented.
