As part of the project for the creation of the New National Museum (MUNA) at the site of Pachacamac, district of Lurín, Lima, a Moving Protocol Document, commissioned by UNESCO-Peru, has been developed for the relocation of part of the collections from the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History of Peru (MNAAHP) to the new national museum currently under construction (area 75000 m2). The MNAAHP, the oldest and largest museum in Peru, holds one of the most complete and representative collections of pre-Hispanic heritage (Figure 1) that includes more than 300000 objects. This paper shows how the move of assets can be an opportunity to identify complex problems which have to be addressed to complete a successful move. The protocol has not been applied yet due to the circumstances described below.
