ABSTRACT In this piece, I bind three narratives – personal, pedagogical, and poetic – which at their heart, invoke genealogies of Pacific Islander movement as frameworks for rethinking terms of mapping, immigration, and borders. One narrative documents my father as he recovers from a minor heart procedure. A second narrative takes up terms of the body in my approach to teaching movement in a Pacific studies context. I bind these narratives with poetry, linking terms of mapping to terms of the heart. Altogether, this is a navigation of Pacific Islander resistance to, and healing from, colonial borders on our bodies and connections to one another.
