Abstract A construction of Lie bialgebras from Lie coalgebras is given by using differentials of some antisymmetric bilinear forms. As applications Lie coalgebras of dimension less than 3 and an infinite-dimensional Lie coalgebra introduced by W. Michaelis are discussed.
