Abstract A large amount of wastewater containing Fe3+, Cr6+ ions and Nitrofurazone antibiotic are poured into the environment resulting in water pollution. A new sensor, [Cd(HPA)(3-bpmh)]n (1), based on 3-bpmh ligand (3-bpmh = N,N’-bis-pyridin-3-ylmethylene-hydrazine) and H2HPA (H2HPA = Homophthalic acid) is studied in this paper. X-ray crystallography shows Cd-MOF in triclinic system with space group Pī. PXRD experiment, infrared spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis were tested and fluorescence experiments proved that it can be used to detect Fe3+, Cr6+ and Nitrofurazone antibiotic in water. The Cd-MOF fluorescence sensor has excellent selectivity and high sensitivity, which is of great significance for the development of metal organic framework materials in luminescence sensing. The possible mechanism is also discussed in this work.
