ABSTRACT This piece reviews the account of the impact of austerity on spaces of minority ethnic women’s activism presented in Bassel and Emejulu’s work. The piece suggests that techniques of austerity remake cultures of political racelessness by seeking to disallow all claims of entitlement in favour of processes of credentialism. In response, we hear the challenges facing minority women activists in England, Scotland and France and the necessary shifts in organizational focus and approach that emerge in response to austere times.
