of the letter, the authors have made a convincing case for it to be used. Because there is such a wide diversity of teaching approaches at medical schools around the world, the Guide has specifically avoided detailed reference to teaching methods and approaches, so that medical schools can apply those that fit more easily into their existing approaches. I look forward to seeing how the subject of the e-patient is taught through a variety of teaching approaches around the world. It should also be remembered that a more comprehensive and expanded version of this paper will be published as a stand-alone AMEE Guide in 2017 or 2018; in that version, more of the theoretical background and details of what might be taught to medical students will be covered. I trust that the authors and other readers will gain further benefit from that stand-alone Guide.
