We read with great interest the article by Orosa-Duarte et al. (2021) on mindfulness-based mobile app improving anxiety and self-compassion in healthcare students. This study provides a reference for healthcare teachers and students from non-English speaking countries. However, there are some questions that should be discussed. During different school years, healthcare students face different psychological problems due to the different main tasks they undertake. In this article, the small number of students in each school year may influence the assessment results. Although the work is hard, it is necessary to carry out relevant research on the students in different school years to develop more targeted mindfulness programs. On the other hand, Orosa-Duarte et al. (2021) found that empathy did not change in the three arms. Morrison et al. (2019) found controversy over the effect of MindfulnessBased Stress Reduction programs on empathy. So, it is necessary to tailor the solutions to the actual problems. The reasons for low attendance in the article should be discussed. For the students who did not complete the follow-up, mention whether they had higher or lower potential questionnaire scores than the students who finished the study, which affects the accuracy of the study results. In addition, the race and religion may also influence the study results, however, the authors did not mention it. The most important aim is to alleviate the psychological problems of healthcare students. A flexible approach, including face-to-face interviews, apps and web learning, and a combination of online and offline participation may be more friendly to the students during their busy studies or clinical work. Those programs that are mandatory or time-consuming may become a burden and thus discourage students from participation.
