This paper demonstrates the movement of the phase change front using the explicit numerical method applied to the one-dimensional enthalpy formulation of the Stefan equations. The numerical solution is then applied to several types of phase change materials found in the literature to know their behaviours. The obtained outcomes are interesting; however, each type of material is presenting its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of thermophysical properties. Implementation of eutectic compounds could, however, overcome some difficulties and lead to optimised results.
