ABSTRACT The present article is concerned with the Stroh analysis of Rayleigh surface wave propagation in anisotropic homogeneous thermoelastic medium. The problem is considered in the context of three-phase-lag model of generalized thermoelasticity. The secular equation is with complex coefficients and the surface wave is damped in time and dispersed. The results are illustrated for the case of an orthotropic homogeneous thermoelastic half space and an explicit bicubic form of the characteristic equation with complex coefficients is obtained. The analysis of these Rayleigh waves for homogeneous orthotropic half space is numerically exemplified.
