Abstract This study investigated the effect of nano-graphene on the mechanical properties and the self-healing process of clayey sand using the uniaxial test. Based on the results of the experiments in this research, the self-healing of samples with 0.06% nano-graphene at 28 days was ∼73% higher than that of the samples without additive at the same time. According to the SEM images, it can be assured that the added nano-graphene plays an active role in the self-healing process. In the final step, the undrained shear strength of clayey sand was considered as the output variable in terms of the percentage of fine grains and the nano-graphene as the input variables using the obtained network structure. In this way, the highest undrained shear strength in the clayey sand was estimated at 22% fine grain and 0.06% nano-graphene additive to be approximately equal to 0.64 kg/cm2.
