The issue I am going to introduce with this short reflection deals first of all with the relationship between literary and scientific languages of psychology. On one hand, literary works by very well-known authors such asMelville, Kafka, and Bukowski are revisited, on the other their written texts are read to support and better understand a theme considered important for the psychology of work and organizations. A thematic reflection that aims at placing the language of literature and science in a constructive dialogue, in order to highlight psychological problems that originate and develop in the domain of organizations and work. What is more, in its second part this issue also introduces some articles that explicitly reflect on the concept of time and time perspective as far as work and organizations are concerned. Another article follows that studies the importance of reflectivity in work and organization and finally two works close this issue giving their interesting contribution. The first analyzes cultural misunderstanding within institutions and care; the second deals with a reflection on palliative treatment for terminally ill patients and the studies by some psychologists from Palermo that encompass work, care, and social support. After this short introduction, let us take a closer look at the themes of work, organization, and identity in work contexts, as well as the recognition of the person as relational subject as it is developed by the authors of this monographic issue, directly quoting the authors’ contributions. The first article is written by Gabriele Profita and titled “Recognition, Work, Treatment.” A reflection on the theme of recognition, in work and social contexts, where the author points out some problems people may face on the relational plan and as far as their self-esteem is concerned. He highlights the risks and sufferance of subjects who clearly perceive that more than being considered as human resources and relational subjects, they end up being subjected to commoditization and consumerism.
