The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) which was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013 has become a major buzzword globally as it aims and hopes to cover and affect the entire globe. China aims to be the central point of this project and it is no surprise that Xi Jinping termed it as the “the project of the century”. What has happened in the last five years is the publication of a flurry of books and articles written on the BRI. The world is curious and apprehensive as to how this project will unfold. The Chinese want the world to benefit from their development and also hope to gain access to newer markets in the process. This book by Bruno Macaes attempts to answer some of the most pertinent questions surrounding the BRI, like what is it and what will be the future of the BRI as well as the world after BRI?
