ABSTRACT Two novel designs of multilevel coset codes are proposed. The systems are designed by combining convolutional codes and set partitioning of a binary linear block code. Several example codes are given. The simulation results show that the proposed coding schemes outperform the existing convolutional codes of similar trellis complexity.
