ABSTRACT This paper presents the approach of the design of a programmable radio frequency identification (RFID) reader and tag using a 2.4 GHz RF transceiver and microcontroller and data acquisition system. It can be substitute of conventional RFID tag and reader. Temperature sensor values are acquired by the tag and the following EPC RFID global communication protocol sensor values are sent to the reader at remote place after authentication communication is established by microcontroller programming. Using the Huffman coding technique with the help of the MATLAB software, a large volume of data is stored and compressed efficiently without any losses.
