Thanks to a compulsory education policy put into effect by the Chinese Nationalist Party and to economic development, the level of education for women in Taiwan today is equal to that of men. This breakthrough in gender equality is also found in Taiwanese cultural life as well as in the field of contemporary music composition, even if the causes may be different.
