ABSTRACT The problem of interaction between two coplanar semi-infinite gratings is considered. The total current on the flat perfectly electric conducting strips is represented as current on the isolated semi-infinite gratings and correction current. The current on every isolated semi-infinite grating is represented, in turn, as current on the infinite periodic grating and correction current. The characteristics of the scattered field are obtained from the singular integral equations. The results are validated through comparison with results obtained for the infinite periodic grating without a single strip. The current density on the strips, near- and far-field patterns is represented.
