Abstract The design, calibration and operation of a dual photoelastic modulator-based Fourier transform broadband Stokes polarimeter is presented. This instrument measures the full Stokes vector in the 2.5–11 m range in the mid-infrared. Analytical expressions for the wavelength-dependent terms affecting the determination of the four elements of the Stokes vector are provided, along with options for their practical solution. As an example, the dispersion of the birefringence of a quartz waveplate is measured.
