Francesco Cavatorta (PhD, Trinity College Dublin) is an associate professor of political science at Université Laval. His research interests are democratization and authoritarianism, Islamist political parties and party politics in the Arab world. Previous publications include the co-edited volume Salafism after the awakening (Hurst, 2017) and the co-authored textbook Politics and governance in the Middle East (Palgrave, 2015).
