Mentioned rather superficially, these relations could be explored in further research. Overall, Black Earth, White Bread provides a well-written and rich account of the Russian food system. Thanks to its original conceptual contributions and manifold links, this book will appeal not only to experts in Russian food production but also to readers from different scientific fields, as it offers important new perspectives on the study of the Russian food system, and food systems more generally.
