Abstract This paper deals with constructing the mathematical model of the slender and long shaft temperature field in the grinding process. The proposed model is given in terms of a three-dimensional boundary-value problem. The analytic solution is solved by using the Laplace transform, the Fourier transform, the Green’s function method and the Fubini theorem. Finally the model is proposed to be a tool for the control algorithm in slender and long shaft processing.
