ABSTRACT This article reflects on what may be called a collaborative turn in the methodologies of performance studies. The article takes the form of letters written between colleagues on distant sides of the planet. Situated in relation to ongoing questions about the internationalization of the field, the letters enact an everyday academic exchange, and through it explores the contextual and theoretical underpinnings of the authors’ performance studies practice. The letters also establish a dialogue with the archive of Text and Performance Quarterly, addressing it as a textual partner in the performance – a repository and reference in and for the conversation.
