Evelyne Grossman: This issue of Europe dedicated to your work brings together [rassemble], as you know, contributors from various countries (Italy, Spain, Belgium, the United States, England, Egypt, Canada, Germany, Iraq, the Netherlands, etc.). How would you describe the transnational, translinguistic community of your readers, given that you sometimes say that you are not very ‘communitarian’? While there is certainly a ‘ community’ of your readers, the members of this community do not resemble each other and often barely have anything in common. It is neither a group nor a school of thought, yet something in their recognition of your thought binds [lie] them together, produces a bond [lien]. Could we interpret this bond along the lines of the ‘community of social unbinding [d eliaison]’ that you defined in Politics of Friendship? 2
