and speak Schmittian without knowing it. Brown substantiates this outrageous claim by referring the reader to an obscure radio Sketch written by Carl Schmitt. This is an odd book, indeed. As helpful as it is (and it is indeed helpful), more than anything it testifies to the despair and irrelevance to which intellectuals have reached. Ironically, such despair lends support to Brown’s overarching theses that we are dealing with the outcome of the Hayekian project. In this case, his project is turning the intellectuals into “professional secondhand dealers” in right-wing ideas, instead of left ones.
