manifest at the point of departure for an idea of a picture story (when, for example, a particular picture selected for publication can inspire future processes of production aesthetically or in terms of covering a similar story) as much as at the ‘end’ point when a picture is chosen to be archived according to its saleability in the future. Impact, that is the list of the biggest stories of the previous day, is another example of the circular cycle of production. The list exemplifies that the news pictures are not left to die once they are published, but are rather gathered back as data in order to see how well the agency did compared to its rivals, the results of which have a direct impact upon future moments of production. As such, the book shows that the production and consumption of news pictures are not located at two separate ends but are rather closely interrelated.
