Here is the focal question asked by Chris Doran’s new book, Hope in the Age of Climate Change: granted the fact that our planet is warming up due to anthropogenic factors and that we can forecast manifold disruptions if not destruction of Earth’s generativity, how can the Christian community proffer hope and make a difference? Doran’s answer is this: Christian faith in Jesus’ resurrection and God’s promise of redemption can prompt a witness—a model to be emulated by the larger society—that includes repentance from careless human behavior and adoption of ecologically sound political, economic, and social practices. Doran’s method is to transform our social imaginary by imparting a new theological imaginary. Doran begins by conscripting Charles Taylor’s notion of the social imaginary:
