The impressive development of neuropsychoanalytic research and clinical neuropsychoanalysis was fully experienced at our recent congress of the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society. With both quantity and quality of submissions for oral presentations on a continuing upward curve, we experimented this yearwith a packed program of parallel sessions, which featured briefer talks than in previous years. The presenters gamely took on the challenge of presenting nuanced clinical observations and rich research findings in this new format. As in previous years, presenters from almost every continent discussed a range of topics, including addiction, affective neuroscience, affective touch, aggression, anosognosia, attachment – and that’s just the A’s! Topics also included consciousness, personality disorders, trauma, and much more. It was particularly exciting to see a true neuropsychoanalytic dialogue emerging, as clinicians and researchers expand their vocabularies and increasingly speak with each other from within a number of disciplines simultaneously, rather than simply across disciplines at each other. We trust the dialogues will continue through the coming year. We encourage you to consider submitting proposals for our next congress in Mexico City, in the summer of 2018; stay tuned for details!
