The current era has been dubbed the golden age of podcasts and as such, there are a growing number of podcasts that provide access to information, entertainment and news. Today’s technology tools make finding, listening to, and even creating podcasts simple for even novice podcasting enthusiasts. While there are low or no-cost options for creating podcasts, additional information, training, and tools can increase the quality of a podcast. This column provides an overview of the general tools and tips for creating quality podcasts. In order use podcasting to promote library services or information, librarians may want to consider becoming familiar with podcast creation. In addition, the increasing demand for podcasting use in medical education means that hospital educators and leadership may look to grow their knowledge of podcasting. The library can serve as a source of information as well as a resource center for those interested in creating podcasts.
