The authors thank Mr. Palmer for his clarifications regarding previous comparison studies. We did feel it was important to document the changes in AIS over time as well as some of the rationale for those changes, for historical perspective and understanding, especially since AIS 2015 was recently released. AIS 2015 is being used by coding groups and is in the process of being incorporated into multiple coding software programs used within hospitals after working out digital licenses. As noted in some of the references listed by Mr. Palmer, it takes time for the coding community to incorporate new versions of AIS into hospital systems and software programs. We are looking forward to coders utilizing AIS 2015 and providing more resources for investigating changes in datasets moving from AIS 2008 to AIS 2015. Training with AIS 2015 has begun and has been offered internationally including Australia, as well as multiple classes that have been taught in the US. We encourage those interested in more information on AIS 2015 to reach out to AAAM.
